Lane composition
Switch® lanes are made of a 10 mm thick laminate that is EN 438 and ISO 4586 compliant. Heavy paper sheets are impregnated with thermosetting resins then subjected to the combined action of pressure (9MPa) and heat (150°C – 302°F) in special presses to bond into a high pressure laminate (HPL) panel. The product meets requirements set by Switch® and the USBC.
Switch® lanes have excellent:
- Self-supporting properties
- Dimensional stability and flatness
- Resistance to impact, scuffing and scratching
- Tolerance to fluids, including chemical and organic solvents
- Flame retardancy
Space requirements
At the design stage, the area where bowling area requires a clear span and a ceiling height of at least 3.05 metres. Moreover, because bowling centres require specific heating, air-conditioning and electrical specifications, we highly recommend discussing technical specifications with a professional in the bowling sector prior to construction.
The size of the bowling area is determined by the number of lanes you are intending to install. You should then decide what other facilities you would like to provide, such as: a reception area, lockers, a snack bar, cafeteria, children’s area, amusement machines, billiards and meeting rooms.
Additional space is required for service aisles on each side of the bowling lanes, and a clear service passage (1.50m is recommended) behind the pinsetters. Finally add a minimum of 4.0m for a standard bowlers’ seating area.
